The obvious chemistry is missing when online. No eye contact. No body language. No voice inflections. Smileys are all very well, but can be used 'fraudulently'. All in all, not a good medium for social contact. Ok for initial stages perhaps, and sharing common interests in a non romantic conversation, humour, etc.
Would be nice to switch on cams and have a real conversation via Skype or whatever, but to my mind, streaming images and even voice online has to be treated with great caution now.

that and skype has been pretty much been used for sex now a days.

@theowl: Well each Skype conversation is private and separate so a 1000 cyber bangs could be progressing and it wouldn't affect anyone else, lol. I was referring to the possibility that someone might use your face or photo to place on other images so it goes viral.
