How come the notion of A God/Gods and the spread of religion is so engulfed amongst humanity more than anything else can ever subsist?

I understand that people wanted an explanation as to why we are here, but I find it rather interesting that throughout history different groups of individuals all came up with relatively the same idea/s.Could it be because there is some truth to it or...?

@Pureblossom: Yes..I've gotten answers a lot...you just have to be still and quiet to hear...and they are not always immediately...some take awhile, but eventually, all my questions have been answered so far..
