@Shironeko:
Indeed, some humans can not keep it to a moderate amount as they easily become addicted.
Therefore for some, it'd be better to stay away from it.
There are people who drink in moderation for the rest of their lives, and there are people who let themselves become alcoholics because of, as you said, anger and depression.
So if you ever try drinking (which I'm sure you will when you become older), and if you feel like you're not handling it very well, then consider to stop before you're making it a habit. :)
Smoking is pointless however. The amount of smoke you can inhale without it harming you is incredibly small.
One cigarette worth of smoke would surpass the amount that would be deemed okay, by far.
Alcohol has it's own amount before it becomes bad for you, and it's different for everyone.
You have to count on your body-mass to know how much you can drink.
However it's pretty safe to assume that one or two beers, or a glass of wine, would not have a bad effect on your body when you're an adult.
Also, you'll physically feel it if you've drunk too much.
You will notice worsened control over your body, such as not being able to walk in a straight line, or feeling dizzy, and that is a solid indication that you've drunk too much.
Alcohol can make your life better, or it can destroy it. However it's up to you how you use it and what outcome it will be.
