Is it okay to search your child's room, to make sure they aren't doing anything you don't want them to do?

Some people would disagree but I have to say yes. Many years ago, a friend of mine was talking to a guy online who was actually a grown man and if her mother would not have searched her room, she would have taken off with a complete stranger possibly never to be seen again.
