News

I just looked at the BBC World News website. It's really depressing. Headlines include:

- "Manhunt after Istanbul club attack"
- "M*A*S*H star William Christopher dies"
- "Terrorists freed in Bahrain prison raid"
- "North Korea close to long-range missile test"
- "Man kills 12 at Brazil new year party"
- "Bambi artist Tyrus Wong dies aged 106"
- "US politician 'beats wife' on 911 recording"

I... Just... 馃う

The North Korea thing isn't necessarily bad unless you assume they use it for evil. Those tests might actually yield some innovation in technology.

They're hopelessly behind in the technology, and they aren't exactly known to share anyway. Also, it's North Korea. The only reason you'd assume they won't use it for evil is if you don't know very much about North Korea.

@RoboChloe: One can never say what the future might bring and just because they are behind doesn't mean that they can't discover something nor does it negate the innovation it could give their country.

@Jackaloftheazuresand: Their country is a terrible one. Just terrible. I honestly don't want them to have any kind of development, because it won't be used to help their people, and the people are the only thing about North Korea that I don't hate.
Jackaloftheazuresand26-30, M
@RoboChloe: If someone wants to attack them, I think some defenses would benefit the people, don't you? Enemies don't just leave civilians out of it.
RoboChloe26-30, F
@Jackaloftheazuresand: Frankly the people of North Korea would be better off without the defences, because then if NK was attacked, there would be less for the attacker to go through and therefore fewer civilian casualties. Also, North Korea itself causes the deaths of more of it's own citizens than an enemy attack ever would. And those that aren't dying are living in terrible conditions.
Jackaloftheazuresand26-30, M
@RoboChloe: Not if the missiles deter the attack in the first place.

Seriously though, since you are being a good sport, I'm being intentionally difficult.
RoboChloe26-30, F
@Jackaloftheazuresand: If the missiles deter the attack then that's even worse for the people of North Korea, because then they're still stuck with the North Korean govornment.
