I highly admire Japanese culture. The only issue is it might be a bit too collectivist, to where people feel like they can't get help if they have a problem, because they don't want to trouble anyone. And they're far too condemning of mistakes. Make one mistake and you're worthless. And, "the nail that stands out the most gets hammered down." Uniqueness is frowned upon and suppressed, which inhibits their geniuses from flourishing, among other things. In my understanding.

But, that's all the bad qualities, rofl. The good qualities I like is the politeness and considering others, which is quite unlike the U.S. culture of strong individualism which is essentially "everyone for themselves", even if some individuals do make it a point to think of the whole. There is structure and manners and etiquette.

Hard working (maybe too hard working, though; some people have been worked literally to death in office jobs); very sort of secular humanist in that they adapt to new technologies really well, as well as develop them as the technological leader of the world; their food is fucking amazing.

And, come on, I have to say it: anime. I watched anime from a very young age, starting with the prolific DBZ. There's a shitload of anime--a lot of it is shit--but a good amount of the adult oriented ones are very deeply philosophical and have a lot of value to them, beyond a story. But, there are also a lot of original stories.

I'm totally going to get called a weeaboo, now; but I'm not, because I don't try to act like I'm Japanese. And frankly, admiring another culture shouldn't be so frowned on.
