I'm wondering how many of us don't for moral, or for legal reasons

I have encountered some people that act with such selfishness, greed and evil that the thought has more than crossed my mind.. But I don't know what brought those people to be like that, and I do not know if they have family depending on them.
Granted - I don't think people should rob and injure/murder others just for some money. But why do they think that it's okay? There are some that I know are self-serving and whose death really would make the world a better place, but I don't feel that I'm the on to bring that judgement upon them...
