If I wanted to propose an idea to a newspaper company, is that even something legit I could possibly do?

Nothing really just being an amateur writer I have a few books on Amazon that's about it but I'm a great writer and also a great person to go to for advice

I would think a background in psychology or sociology might be helpful.
