Have you experience racism?

My experience: I was just riding my bike around in the summer and this kid walked by me and stopped dribbling his basketball because I ( a person of darker skin) was nearby, his dad just said "this guy's an asshole, he won't have a future anyway." I was extremely offended by it, my color shouldn't determine what's in store for me. The dad, ironically, had a spray tan. So he thinks someone with darker skin can be so unsuccessful, yet he tries to look like he has darker skin.

😜 How do you know that it was because you had darker skin...?

Because the dad reacted fine with all the lighter skinned kids around, even the extremely intimidating looking ones, but once they went passed me they reacted different

@DoorMattress: Hmm well you know how we often feel like people are judging us? Maybe it's that..? overly conscious?

@MartinTheFirst: Maybe, but why would I judge a kid just dribbling his basketball? I didn't mean to look like I was judging him, all the white kids around the neighborhood boast about their skills and yet he's unaffected by them
