January 6 rioter who posed with feet on Nancy Pelosi’s desk guilty of all charges

A January 6 rioter who was photographed with his feet on the desk of Nancy Pelosi was found guilty on eight counts by a jury on Monday.
Richard Barnett, 62, also known as “Bigo,” was charged with eight federal crimes relating to his actions at the US Capitol on January 6 2021 including entering and remaining in a restricted area with a deadly or dangerous weapon and obstructing an official proceeding.
Barnett will be sentenced in early May and will stay released on home detention with a GPS ankle monitor until then.
He faces up to 20 years in prison for the top charge of obstructing an official proceeding.
The jury deliberated for a few hours before reaching the verdict.
Barnett’s lawyer Joseph McBride told reporters after the verdict that his client had not received a fair trial because Washington DC, is “not a state” and made up primarily of “Biden voters.”

Jan. 6 Rioter Who Put Feet on Pelosi's Desk Found Guilty. Barnett may be jailed for up to 20 years
“We’re saying that we believe politics is the big elephant in the room that nobody wants to speak about here and political considerations about this trial have damaged the jury pool to the extent that we can’t get a fair trial.”

Barnett was caught on video surveillance entering Pelosi’s office area on January 6, according to court documents. He was photographed with his boot propped on a desk and the flag draped nearby.
During the trial, Barnett testified he was pushed into the Capitol during the riot and was looking for a place to use the restroom inside the building, admiring all the artwork along the way.
“I wasn’t part of that protest, I was pushed in,” Barnett said during his testimony, where he described himself as “hyper.”

I have to be honest I laughed when this story came out it was a funny picture I am British I live in the UK I do not take any part in American politics what so ever however in my opinion Bigo should be given a light sentence after all he gave us all a good laugh I will include a poll on how long a sentence Bigo should receive.

PS I would let him go if I was the Judge.

Perhaps he can help the security services understand where they failed. Demonstrating the vulnerability of a restricted building to those who are supposed to secure it.

@meJess Step 1. Do not invite rioters inside building.

@meJess I agree with you.

meanwhile, blm/antifa rioters who destroyed public and private property, assaulted police & innocent bystanders, threatened federal judges, and in some cases even murdered pedestrians/small business owners, etc. walk free...

@wildbill83 I have to be honest being British I only watched news reports those facts didn't come to light the British justice system has grey areas.
Charge sheet said possession of a deadly weapon.. any details on that?.. 🤔
You dont get 20 for sitting in a seat.
My only problem.. and I’m a trump fan.
Is the disproportionate sentencing and bail for J6 protestors and aunt Tifa and BLM and 2 billion dollars of damage..
Don’t forget they made trump retreat to his bunker and burnt the church across the street when trump won.
But that was in now way an insurrection * taps nose* wink wink*

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout I don't think rioters would of accessed The Houses of Parliament in England they have better security over there Steel Doors etc.
As long as US jails operate the way they do no prison sentence would actually accomplish anything besides hurting people.

@RebelliousSpirit Majority of the voters thinks he should serve between 5 & 10 years in the pen.

He sands and varnishes the desk and that is it.
senghenydd · M
@Swoop62 Better security like steel doors should of been fitted to that building, lack of security.
