A spirit guide is essential in these hard times and even the unbelievers can have one.

Spirit guides for the atheists and spiritually blind and mundane curiosity will not be like those of believers but they

CAN

be trustworthy. For example both Gollum and Gandalf did give good directions in the end didn't they?

The longer you believe in a universal meaning and can feel the pulsing joy of creation the less like Gollum your spirit guide will be. So maybe start changing your unhelpful ways now the atheists?

But ultimately atheists, it doesn't matter if Ur spirit guide is beautiful or ugly does it?

@Whodunnit My wife and I get guidance from the spirit level (and a couple tape measures) when we're hanging pictures. We spent a few hours hanging pictures last month before Thanksgiving. Very reliable!!

Gollum and Gandalf were not real, but then, neither are spirit guides, so I guess it all adds up, though admittedly it adds up to a whole lot of nothing.
