Torture Scenes in Movies ???

Lots of movie, even in the Indian movies there is a point or more than one where someone gets mercilessly beaten up or tortured. Good guy. Bad guy, good girl, bad girl.

I'm not one for violence. But in some cases u feel it can be avoided. Mostly in jails, the good guy gets tied up and beaten, or a girl gets humiliated. Although on the bright side, u tend to enjoy or motivate for it when the bad person gets their share back.

So jus wondering if these torture scenes are actually necessary

I have a very difficult time with violence in films. The more psychologically involved and intimate it is, the more difficult time I have. Villeneuve's film Incendies is like that. It's about a woman who conceived her children through rape in prison-- her rapist being the son she gave up years before. Just have to lay down in the dark after watching it.
@CopperCicada eish that's hectic.
Seems like it gets to u on a mental level also
@SilentKiller More physically and emotionally. The plot is about a woman who experiences war crimes. Being effected means the writer, director and actors did their jobs.
@CopperCicada I read your comment and it got to my head so u dead on right.

Generally most movies themselves are not necessary. You need to ask, if they made the movie what message were they trying to convey and did they need that in there to get that message across.
@JackJames for sure. It's jus that, u may feel sad or sympathy for the good person but u support it when the revenge is being taken on the evil person

It's at best a chance for effects specialists to shine.
