Omg I just remembered more insane things my dad did when I was growing up
He would every year before school started bought my siblings and I these work books corresponding to what grade we were going into. I remember these workbooks having math in them. We got those and a pack of lined paper and pencils. He expected us to complete these workbooks and would get angry if we didn't. He would check too.
One year we got excited because we got bought mini whiteboards with dry erase markers. We thought cool art stuff! Wrong. He used them to quiz us on spelling mainly and sometimes other things.
I already told the story about him making us cry over checking our homework and making us redo it until it was right. If we spelled a word wrong during a spelling quiz he would make us write it out several times in a row and then ask us again and if we got it wrong we got more lines.
When it came out that you could check grades online through a parent portal my parents were religious about checking it and you would get called over if they saw something they didn't like. I remember I was out with a friend one night and I get a call on my phone from my dad. He was calling to yell at me over a test grade in biology. He was questioning me,accused me of being on drugs, went through my backpack and room in search of said drugs. I ended up crying and having to go home early. He watched everything like a hawk. I wasn't the only one who got yelled at. My mom wasn't a saint either I've seen her rip into my siblings over their grades too.
In japan In Japan well In Japan.... We aren't in Japan you idiot don't you remember moving here before any of us were born? Good lord if japan is that precious why did you even come here. Yours cousins in japan are doing calculus why aren't you? I'm not them duh. In japan kids do this in school. We are in america smart one. In japan this happens. Once again we are in the usa you genius.
Grilled my teacher at parent teacher conferences in 9th grade as to why I was struggling with geometry. I was embarrassed.
Threatened to show up at the school and sit in one of my brothers classes because he said the teacher sounded like an idiot and that it was his right as a parent to know what was being taught to his children. He never did show up but it all started over something my brother mentioned about his government class and the kennedy assasination or something. I don't remember the exact details anymore but it was for sure that class and that topic.
