Have you ever invested your money (or not your money 😂) before?

Like in "money multiplier" type stuff, like stocks, crypto, casino chips 😂, and other assets, etc?
If so, in what and how did it go.
If not, why not, and would u ever?

Yes, but not in that stuff. I've been living really cheaply and saving most of my income. So far I've put that savings into two rental condos. They are both rented and making me money which I'm hoping to use to buy a third. :)

@sarabee1995 good work. Doing it the right way

@Dan193 I was taught life is a marathon, not a sprint.

@sarabee1995 that's a good advice. I'm more on the impatient side. Work super hard for a while, then chill later.
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@Dan193 Oh, I'm working hard. I have a day job (most people here know I'm in the US Navy) and I also put a lot of hours in remotely with a family business most evenings. And I bank all of the business income and about half of my Navy pay.

And yes, the idea is to chill later. :)

@sarabee1995 you're doing very well, keep it up, and you'll have a sweet, chill, no stress life in no time
@sarabee1995 Most millionaires made $ through real estate.

Global warming, the holocene extinction...these will be changing the value of land in some places.
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@SomeMichGuy So my two coastal condos are likely doomed??? 😲
@sarabee1995 Look at topographic maps, and consider the ocean level rise, the increase in the number & intensity of storms, etc.

Much of FL is not very far above sea level. There are going to be a lot of soggy golf carts & mobile homes...

Much of the world's population lives near an ocean/sea...many of these places will flood, pushing people further inland, and/or have enhanced erosion, also undermining the land next to the ocean/sea.

But lots of people are stupid; so just remember you don't have to be faster than the bear, just faster than the number of persons the bear will likely attack (typically ~1)...

@SomeMichGuy One of my condos is in Saint Augustine, Florida. I guess I should start writing that one off now, huh? 🤣

I'm more likely to stop and stare down the bear so the others can get away. 😐
@sarabee1995 St. Augustine isn't in the everglades area which is likely lost.

But remember that the highest mountain in FL is in Orlando, and us a ride at Disneyworld.
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@SomeMichGuy For real? That's funny. Space Mountain??
@sarabee1995 Yes.

It's akin to how New Orleans is in big, flat bowl, and the city fathers--many years ago--had a hill artificially built so that the kids of the city would know what one is.
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@SomeMichGuy And lemme guess... They put their houses up on the hill?
@sarabee1995 RE: St. Augustine, the Wikipedia says its elevation is 0', citing

I'd definitely check the elevation where your condo is and think about how an increased water level and higher rate of bigger hurricanes will affect that building, your unit, and the environs.

You might lose it and get a last settlement from the government, who finally started NOT giving an eternal stream of checks for people to rebuild in at least some disaster-prone areas.
@sarabee1995 RE: hill

LMAO

No. It's a small hill. I guess you could put a small prefab barn-like little outbuilding for a mower, etc., on it...but not a house. lol

Here...it's called "Monkey Hill", it's in the Zoo:
The Audubon Zoo of New Orleans opened in 1914. The city of New Orleans, on average, is about 6 feet below sea level. Monkey Hill was built inside the zoo in the 1930’s to ‘give’ the children of New Orleans a hill to climb. As a child, Monkey Hill looks like a large mountain… as an adult I now know it is only maybe 11 feet high. Regardless of is true height, Monkey Hill holds special memories for all the children who have visited the zoo and made the big climb all the way to the top.
See [i]https://www.monkey-hill.com/our-story/[i]

...which has a non-working photo...hmmm

They have really redone it, now, but this is what I saw years ago:

@SomeMichGuy oh that's funny! 🤣
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@SomeMichGuy cool looking hill, even has a tree
