He might actually be feeling insecure or unsure of himself and what he's doing. Therefore, you asking him if he did something he was supposed to do might be making him over think things. Try to talk to him on break and just explain to him you aren't trying to harass him you are concerned because some steps are easily missed or whatever your concerns are. Knowing where you are coming from might help him better understand that you aren't trying to trip him up or it might help him understand you don't think he's stupid. 🤷🏻♂️
