Canada protects pedophile identities. Why can't we have a public registry like the states have?

I wish you could have that too. When I was working at a retail store I recognized 4 pedophiles from their photos posted on the sex offender registries. One of them was seemingly hiding behind a display of merchandise while a mother was scanning her groceries and he was smiling and staring at her children...
