How would you rate Amber Heards acting performance during her court attendance

You made me look up what all this nonsense is about and it only proved to me the case is nonsense based on the following:
1. Heard didn't name Depp when she wrote an article about domestic abuse.
2. If he'd let it go only a few people would've known and none of them matter.
3. Depp had already lost a case in the UK about domestic abuse.
4. How he lost that case proves to me how fragile the legal system is; her word against his- no evidence.

@GeniUs None of them matter??? Except he lost his gig as Jack Sparrow from Disney because of her. Millions of dollars in damages to his career. I think that matters.

@DoubleRings If somebody wants to make decisions based on rumours that's up to them but if (and this was in my original post) he just shrugged the lot off - remember she didn't name him, he might have kept his place. Theoretically he's brought that on himself. Yes it's not right that people can make veiled slanderous comments but the law is the law and staying on the right side of it (by not naming anybody) allows some leeway. (I'm no US legal expert we'll have to see how it pans out).

@GeniUs Would you have shrugged it off if it cost you millions of dollars in income? Disney didn’t shrug it off. Not to mention the income he was bound to lose in prospective acting roles? Sure she didn’t mention his name but she might as well have! Cause he’s the one paying for her damn words right now, isn’t he?

@DoubleRings He was the master of his own demise here by framing himself for something not specifically about him. You are letting your favouritism shape your opinion.
DoubleRings · 51-55, F
@GeniUs I’m not even a fan of Depp. I haven’t watched TV or movies in over 20 years. I only own a TV bc of my hubby. I don’t even know if he’s a good actor. For that matter I’ve never even heard of Heard either. I only see them online. There’s no favouritism here.
GeniUs · 56-60, M
@DoubleRings in that case it's just a poor argument then, not too dissimilar to Depp's choice to sue.

@GeniUs except you don't know what you're talking about

Disney and Warner acted immediately following the article to cut Depp from major roles

Everybody knew it was about Depp

The article called out Hollywood for protecting Depp at her expense and alleged rape

And the allegations within it were repeated. For example when The Sun, who explicitly named Depp, called him a wife beater

So if you'd be happy to be known as a rapist and wife beater that is fine, but Depp fought to clear his name, save his legacy from being forever tarnished and to regain his career which had been destroyed by Heard's accusations
GeniUs · 56-60, M
@Tigerstripe Yeah I'm going to fall back on what was actually stated rather than supposition in this case.
Tigerstripe · 41-45
@GeniUs Not so much supposition given Amber Heard has been found guilty of defamation. The law is that if the person is readily identifiable that counts as defamation, even if they are not explicitly named
