Wanna hear something sad?

I work with this old filipino dude he's gotta be 70 at least. I think he lives out of his car cause it's loaded down with stuff and trash. Anyway he told me he works 3 jobs. Burger king, i hop which he told me he works there for 20 years and i cant remember what he said the 3rd job was. Dude is there before my shift starts and by time my 8 hours is up he is still there.

Dude never complains and is always nice to everyone. Always has a smile. I feel bad because at his age he shouldn't be working that damn hard. Makes me sad but i know I'll be in his shoes if i make it that far.

A society that cannot allow it's least powerful people to retire is a failed society in my opinion.
Unfortunately that means that I regard most as failures to some degree or other.

Seems like he’ll never retire at the rate he is going. Maybe he works so much because he doesn’t have a home to go home too and working keeps him inside and busy instead of hanging out in his car so much.

@cherokeepatti True and if that's the case that's super sad. You only get one life though and in your olden years you should be able to relax a little do stuff you love. I also thought maybe he sends money back to family in the Philippines because he's got a thick accent and i know other coworkers have had to help him with stuff like calling places foe him

@SW-User could be. But sounds like he is working himself into a grave. If he is sending $ back home they sure will
Miss him when he’s gone
