I just don’t understand why I can’t get an apartment. I’ve been living in hotels since October

Every two weeks I pay 1200.00 for hotels. These apartments want me make 3 1/2 times the rent in a month. 1200 x 3 1/2 = That’s 4200 a month. Maybe a couple can make that but a single person can’t. They never would answer my question why do I need to make 3 1/2 times the rent. I’m not going to pay 1200 3 1/2 times in a month. Only thing I need is electric that’s 60-80 a month.
