Why do girls and women of above average size get made fun of?

I know someone that is 5’11, large built and about……I’m not telling you her weight. No woman wants to tell people that. Let’s just say she isn’t slim. Anyways some guys pick on her and tease her about being a “big” girl and not a lot of females are that big. I mean it is true but it isn’t cool to do that. She is very insecure because of her size and her big feet when people point it out. She wishes she was average size or petite. Her dad and mom reminds her that she is above average and she won’t wear the stuff average ladies can wear and they have to look at certain places because her clothes size will cost more. Her friends teased her for being “expensive”.

I’m above average for my culture as a Latina at 5’8.5” and on the plus side I stick out like a sore thumb and experienced much of what you described.

People can be so cruel and it’s worse when it comes from family 😭

@KaysHealingPath oh my god! That’s the worst. Your family can be your worst critics or harshest one. I got cold skinny as a stick by a few of them and it hurts

@PetiteJulie01 I’m so sorry that is also very hurtful.
My favorite cousin has always been very thin (not by her choosing) she always had trouble putting on weight she was a size 0-1

She tried so hard to gain weight and now as an adult with 2 kids she’s a size 3! My uncles had the audacity to tell her she gained some weight and looks “fuller” umm she had a baby 3 months ago and was in pre pregnancy clothes 3 days post partum

Anyways she was proud she was a little “thicker” she’s always had a healthy appetite and loves junk food she just has a really fast metabolism and but what my uncles told her could have really led her into an ed 😔

@KaysHealingPath Men especially can be the harshest critics too. That’s a bit harsh. I wish I was thicker and even my grandpa said I would be more attractive and decent for men if I put on a little weight. He also said my friend would be ideal for men since she’s curvier and thicker. No man wants a wife that is skin and bones. I have meat on me. I’m just slim. Thy really hurt my feelings.
