Square ceramic drink coasters from vacation spots. I have a nice stack!

Actually, my dining room table is covered with mail (envelopes). I never dine on it, LOL!
I usually eat on my couch or lounge chair watching TV, or my computer desk. I always use coasters to protect the wood of my end tables and desk. They also work well as mini trivets, since plates can get hot in the microwave.

I only use about 1/3 for mail.
Then about 1/3 I confess is for garbage bags, before they get full. The garbage is usually all containers and boxes. I rinse all things out first and let them dry. Sometimes there are orange peels or chicken bones, though. And there might be a pile of grocery bags which I reuse to hold the garbage. We have a bin we place outside our apartment doors, and a service comes to empty them and take the garbage to the dumpster. It is very convenient.
The other 1/3 is on the far side near the wall and hard to get to since the gap is narrow.
