Have you ever escaped a situation by chance

In 1999 I was in the city of Toba Tek Singh
My grandad came to pick me up from my aunts house. We travelled all the way to my grand dads house which was four hours away. When we arrived the next day we got a phone call that there had been a giant gas pipeline explosion.
The flame 馃敟 was so high you could see it in neighbouring cities.

There had been a gas leak and and a member of staff had evacuated everyone and decided to light a match

Anyway the whole city lost its mind.
From the accounts of my family and friends there everyone just ran to get out of town.
People were bustled onto buses and trains and were taken out of the city.
My aunt had two young kids that got lost in the stampede of people.
They were found three days later

There weren鈥檛 that many deaths
But it was traumatic.
Just find it always weird that it was on the day I left

This is a video of a Chinese fireworks factory explosion
It鈥檚 probably not the same as this one is huge but I imagine it to be similar

Oh, that was really scary! Wow. So I know what your family witnessed was terrifying. All those poor people.

Wow that's crazy. I'm glad nothing ended up delaying your stay there. Crazy how even little things can have the biggest affects on our lives sometimes.

I can't really think of a time I was meant to be somewhere a traumatic event occurred but I've had way too many situations where I looked back like "wow I probably should've died".

I mean I died for half an hour as a baby but I came back. There was a time I was shot at & heard a bullet whistle right past my ear. I've been shot at multiple times in my life & luckily I've never been hit but that was definitely the closest being that it was right next to my head. I've had another miss me by a few inches above my head once as well, also pretty close.

Not sure why but I tend to laugh after I almost die 馃槀 I'm like "how tf..."

@ChiefWalksWith40oz you should post about it. Would definitely be interesting to read.

The only respect you ever need is the one from within when you look at yourself in the mirror.

Is my humble philosophy anyway.

You are a talented young man. Please stay safe

@Carlisle I actually like writing my stories sometimes but I overthink lol. I know a lot of people here aren't familiar with the type of life I've lived & I worry about saying too much or portraying myself the wrong way.

But thank you, you're sweet 馃 you don't know this but you're one of my favorite people here 馃槍
CarlisleF
And you are one of mine 馃 @ChiefWalksWith40oz
Friend was hit by a car while we were bicycling instead of me. He was seconds behind me, through the intersection. Which made all the difference.

Had I left a week late, and chosen American Airlines or a connection through Boston or NY instead, I may have been on a 9/11 hijacked flight.
@Carlisle Thank you. It was a miracle we both lived. He was 7, and hospitalized for 2 weeks for a fractured skull, after shattering an old Cadillac's windshield with his head.
I was unscathed, but can't remember anything beyond him on the street and the firetruck in the distance.

A hard life lesson.

So glad you escaped the gas explosion. I'm familiar with the Chinese accident, and anything comparable would've been deadly. You were spared.
CarlisleF
@SethGreene531 you were quite young then.
That must have been so terrifying and traumatic
Big hugs 馃珎
@Carlisle It was surreal in my 7 year old world.

Appreciate it much, big hug 馃

eh not really, the closest thing I got is this time when a truck came barreling down our road and run off through my neighbor's fence and across our yard after I had just been let off in my driveway
CarlisleF
@Jackaloftheazuresand that鈥檚 scary
Glad you were ok
Emarky31-35, M
You hella lucky
CarlisleF
@Emarky ikr
Just such a weird thing
Hagar you ever seen that explosion of a fireworks factory in China
Like I imagine it to be not as bad but still scary
Don鈥檛 watch it if your faint hearted
It鈥檚 no body getting injured just an explosion
