@Carlisle We definitely had to keep the uniforms in top condition! I do remember wearing my Crackerjacks in London and receiving free ales in 1984 at the Pub. The khakis were very nice with anchors on the collar. The initiation for CPO is a memory that will stay with me for a lifetime.
@Pfuzylogic I bet it was awesome. My sister was in the British Royal Navy. I remember when we went to Plymouth to her passing parade. She was the shortest person there. They waived a few inches for her because she was the first brown girl to ever join the navy.
@Carlisle It sounds like she is very proud to represent the Royal Navy. I can relate to her pride as a member of the military which gives our countries the strength we need to oppose tyranny!
@Pfuzylogic she didn’t like the jump from the massive ship into the ocean though 😂 she was terrified of heights. And still terrified of moths. She’s been a few places. You must have traveled so many places with them.
She also was based in America too with the American military for a couple of years.
@Carlisle I am certain that she is learning quite a bit in the states. When I was in London in 1984 and also Northern Europe. We went across the British Channel to Belgium and visited the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany and the Rhine River and France. It was well worth the $350 on the ten day bus tour that I spent. I have also been in the Indian and Pacific Ocean.
@Carlisle I have had one or more roles that provided stories also. I played tournament chess in high school but the more entertaining stories are probably my experience as a teacher. Although my Chief’s initiation was a bit more intense than my hell week at the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.
@Carlisle I was in the U.S. High School Championship as a Junior and received the 2nd place unrated trophy in 1976. A U.S. Open game published against a Colombian player in 1977. Played blindfold. Around 10 total competition trophies but my prize was to be the Cincinnati High School League Director over 50 teams. We had some ferocious players.
