If you have *never* steered a riding lawnmower, etc., then it will be odd, and something you may well feel that you have to be "catching up" with others who already have *that* down.

The "rules of the road" are pretty simple, but you need to know them for *yourself*, but also be aware that others may not know them or may not care to follow them (or be able to, if intoxicated, high, etc.).

So keep in mind that OTHERS who may not play well with others are out there, too, and your good driving can be undone by someone else's poor driving.

If you can see a situation is developing/might develop, it is often smarter to slow down than to speed up (unless you are trying to avoid a specific threat); lots of people do the latter, and it just hastens bad things, oftentimes.

The scariest thing for me was the first time I drove at night, because everything looks so very different (and I was in a windy, rural area); landmarks were not visible, etc.

Go out there and just be alert; attentiveness will give you an edge.

Best of luck!
