The Kensington section of Philadelphia is a freaking nightmare and one of the biggest open air drug markets there is. I live just outside the city and know how bad the opioid crisis is. I personally know people that have ended up there.

This should get national attention.

@Peapod I've seen some pretty rough areas in my time , but never anything that comes even close to that.

You are right , it should be receiving national attention. It's a terrible indictment of a country that has seemingly turned its back on the drug epidemic.

@RodionRomanovitch So many people that are there are people with severe addiction and mental health issues. There are treatment centers, but the truth is, many have no stable housing and care after rehab. We simply do not do enough to really make a change. There are many kids from the nicer suburbs of Philadelphia that end up there because they got caught up in the opioid epidemic. Deadly overdoses happen all the time, but this is never covered in the news.

Imagine how many parents, siblings, and even kids watch these videos, looking for their loved ones. No other place in the country has several square blocks of open drug use like this. If the videos weren't out there, few would believe this even exists.

@Peapod So sad! 😥💔 I have a younger sister I haven't seen in years, she got caught up in it all too out here in Portland. I'm about 40 miles from Portland in a small town. I could never handle living in the city.

@Peaches That's so heartbreaking Peaches. Sometimes people forget these are real people with real families that grieve them. 😪

@Peapod It's so sad how no one can seem to come up with a plan for the homeless too.😢Drugs, mental health, all of it goes hand in hand a lot of the time.

@Peaches So very true. 😪
