How proficient are you in English?

And do you think speaking English today is a necessity or optional?

I'm quite proficient in English. Of course, it is my primary and single language. In 6th grade, I tested at a college reading and writing level. I wouldn't call English a necessity unless you live in an English speaking country.

French is a really important business language, if I'm not mistaken. But, since English is the dominant language, it's probably very helpful for non-English speakers to learn English--just not a necessity. At least, until China takes over as the world leader.

I was also watching some YouTube videos from....yuuta something. In Japan, some of the Japanese worry that learning English will damage Japanese culture. Might be the case, so everyone learning English might damage their culture. Of course, that might make the world a better place, lessening tensions and increasing understanding between different groups of people. But, anyway.

Not just talking about Asian countries because you're Asian. 😶😶😶
