which is worse being gay with homophobic parent or having a abusive drunk parent

Even if the parent is homophobic, that doesn't mean they'll neglect or abuse their child. So I say the second one, having a drunk abusive parent would be way worse. I'm saying this and I'm gay but I'd rather have a parent who doesn't like homosexuality than a parent who abuses me in any way.

They are both pretty terrible things to have, I don't know how to compare them like that.

I only know the second case, so I can't compare.

Probably an abusive drunk parent. The homophobic parent may not necessarily be abusive while the abusive drunk parent by definition is.

The second one, the gay person can always choose to not come out to their parents

I'm leaning towards the second but a lot of homophobic parents kick them out.

I can see this being a difficult question for some parents :)

An abusive drunk is worse, since a homophobic parent can be managed.
