Do you feel like downvotes are being overused on here?
I've been seeing a lot of downvotes lately on harmless posts and comments, and I don't really get it. Someone must think that it's funny, I guess 馃.

Yes, they are. I think people should reserve them for obnoxious hateful and discriminatory threads.
Downvoting harmless things eventually discourage real contributions.
I for one decided this place isn't worth being open about my feelings and passions. It's best treated as shallow as it seems to have become.

@Miram Well that's a shame. To me it's like if a great YouTube content creator stopped doing it because on every video there's going to be a downvote. In most cases with good content you're going to get more love than hate. Downvoters are just the few, VERY few that cannot move along to something they enjoy instead, because they enjoy nothing unless it feeds their desire to spew more hate. You share great content. Please reconsider.

I deleted most of my actual content a month ago. Now temporary threads of little to no substance that also get purged every week. I think there is too much unbalance when showing/being yourself in a community which isn't healthy and unwilling to meet you half way.
The downvote and the like buttons are both shortcuts. They move the focus from real understandings and discussions to fast reactions and then scrolling away.
The reason I deleted though isn't the downvote. It's harassment. There are at least five members, regular, here that have used my transparency against me.
One who took an incomplete screenshot to play the victim.
And the rest offended by my stance against child abuse content lurking in to find whatever in order to justify their hatred and resentment. Which have lasted for years by the way.
Social media in general doesn't deserve such energy from anyone. I have reported them and they got warnings, many times. Even got temporary suspended. Came back with the same behaviors.
Don't think the hostility is worth it. One has to be picky about being themselves if themselves attract so much whether negative or positive. I like peace and I am very protective of that. Especially as a woman who has lot of flaws that need working on. I can't be better person if others keep on burdening me with their own inadequacies and resentment.
This is not my website. I can't decide for the admins who and what should be allowed. But part of deciding how that affects me entails not exposing my vulnerable parts to those wishing to inflict harm.

Very powerful paragraph. I get it. I want to say, if you're being targeted by people for standing against wrong things then you're annoying the right people, and them targeting you is proof that what you say is true. I do however get that you'd rather just have your peace. You be well. I certainly hope you'll still be sharing pics from Algeria.
