Should there be any junk food sold in hospitals?

Probably not. But it's funny how things change. When I did some volunteer work as a teen in the 70s, you could buy cigarettes at vending machines in hospitals---and smoke, as long as no one using a oxygen tank was near.

Quite interesting, now smoking is banned in many places.

I remember. You could smoke in the patients rooms too, even the ones that weren't private rooms, and too bad if the person sharing the room hated it.

@ragingfire: Most places in my state now. Apartment buildings can be declared "smoke-free".

We have some detectors in ours too. @bijouxbroussard:

@Serenitree: I remember there being patient smoking rooms which were just on a corridor beside the wards, the smoke bellowed out of the door when it was opened, it was not nice..

Yup, and you're thirty years younger than I am. Going back, to when I was a young woman, smoking was even allowed on the maternity ward and even when you were feeding your babies. Moms could light up and puff away while breast or bottle feeding the babies. @MightyAphrodite:

How did the babies feel? Were they okay and didn't suffocate? @Serenitree:
Serenitree · F
@ragingfire: I spent eight days in hospital with my first three pregnancies. Just two days with the fourth, I brought home four live babies who never developed any respiratory problems, those babies didn't SEEM to suffer any ill effects, but who knows?

@Serenitree: Yeah, I think that's the thing, you were lucky, but obviously there is now evidence to the contrary that it's not good.. not everyone will develop cancer or respiratory problems or die from cot death, but I suppose it does increase the possibility..

@Serenitree: oh and I'd just like to add, I find it funny, that us as humans seem to always search for ways to appear younger, or live longer, but we all have a much better talent at doing things that age us and kill us quicker.. that is pretty odd don't you think..

@MightyAphrodite: 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 you nailed that one.

I have a friend who drinks like a fish, but he won't go for whole milk because it contains fat. He smokes like 10 cigs a day, but eats organic veggies. Not sure how much it's gonna help him, he doesn't look very healthy though. I know everyone is different, but as you said things that trigger aging gains more popularity over that help it slow down in some cases@MightyAphrodite:

@ragingfire: I know more than 1 person who goes to the gym, and they barely eat any "fast food".. they do crazy things like boil chicken .. and yet they stand around smoking all day, one woman is 10 years younger than me.. and she looks at least my age.. she wants to have a baby and it's not happening for her, as she's sorta "underweight" and won't stop smoking! cigarettes are sort of her lunch, dinner etc.. it's what she does.

Do you think those electronic cigerattes really work? Are they less harmful ? I have seen some guys use them, but don't know the health effects of those. @MightyAphrodite:

@MightyAphrodite: I know I was very lucky. I don't know about other babies. I think we can't ever guess at what may have happened to anyone anywhere, with no way to track it.
