@Callmewhatyouwill do you earn 49k a year?
OldBrit · 61-69, M
@Callmewhatyouwill according to ons data for the current year only 13% of people earn that amount

@OldBrit it's hilarious really... Laughable because the very thing people have been complaining about is 1 not getting into the industry they studied for. 2 not getting a pay rise or being put forward for a promotion when they come up why, simply because they always go to mates and associates first.

@Mellowgirl my kids both now work away from the fields they graduated in but actually some of the driver was for more cash.

@OldBrit that's great. I have noooo idea what else to do

@Mellowgirl hopefully something will come. My daughter ended up in university administration more by accident than anything else a graduate trainee role just opened up. My son has just left university to join an applied technology company

@OldBrit sounds great.
I think I will just have to earn to live at this rate

@Mellowgirl my son lives in London and can't afford to buy. But new job makes it more sensible to move out so hopefully soon

@Mellowgirl why not get into a high demand job? even if you don't like it to work it for a little while for job security. usa needs truck drivers desperately among other things. what do you guys have a shortage of? we've had a truck driver shortage for years. You start off with a class b making 60k class a you start off 80k

@Mellowgirl I did 2, 6, 9 and 10 in my career.
@Mellowgirl I earn substantially more than that.. I fail to see what my earning has to do with it.

@Mellowgirl when i was 19 i got two jobs. i worked from 9am in the morning until 1am every night. i did this everyday until i got a job at a deli making 600 a week. i worked here for about a year until i saved up for my cna license. i would live off of 20 dollars a week sometimes stealing food from work just so i could eat.

then when i got my cna license i was making anywhere from 600-750 weekly after i stayed there for a few years and got some raises i started at 9 and ended at 15 an hour. Now i work for a travel cna agency where i fill in short staffed facilities i'm basically a travel cna, and make 30 an hour.

I didn't move into a house, i lived in apartments and condos. i live in a condo right now. my plan is when i'm finished with school I flip my condo and take that money and use as a down payment on a house. I make 56 yearly now. I'm not in any rush to buy a house. Sure i think about it a lot. i see my friends my age on facebook moving into nice luxurious houses and a little piece of me wants to be in a nice big house.

but the reality is this isn't a race and i have a carefully thought out plan. I will not act impulsively to lose everything. you don't start out making a lot of money. you work your way up. you start at the bottom. and every opportunity that rears it's head no matter how scary or intimidating you cease it and own it. I have horrible credit.

i never thought i was going to get myself a car newer than a '10 until i finished school or had cash for it. i bought myself a cash car for about 4 grand and rode it around until it was about to KO and I traded it in and got myself a brand new '16 toyota corolla for work.

that's all i can really say. i don't buy any of the minimum wage isn't enough life isn't fair bullshit.

well actually i do, life isn't fair. but nobody told you it was going to be. just do the best you can and don't give up and don't compare yourself to other people. you are enough and you will get there. happiness is not the destination, but it's a journey 👀

@DeluxedEdition thanks hun. I have work since I was 17 lived on my own since 19 never been in debt but been bailing people out.
I had a good full time job but was run out of it.
It continues to be a struggle I work as much as I can manage I try to be respectful but unfortunately my good nature makes people dislike me. Don't know why I'm quiet I don't really have a social life as I can't afford one.
But hey ho. People have more and always flash what little I do have seems to piss people off, probably because I'm careful with my stuff. 😕 People are crazy.
And I'm done fighting them.. Whatever meant to be will be.
