This is why you need to be blunt with autistic people. (Read this article)

Especially adult autistic people. Not 5 year olds. It doesn’t matter if they are autistic, you need to be DIRECT and BLUNT with them for them to see the point. They don’t always see or pay attention to the cues.
You guys are way too worried about how they react or too scared to say it to their faces. Just do it! Tell them. Sometimes you HAVE to be brutally honest with autistic people! Don’t apologize for confronting them and being honest. If they get upset and angry, you’re not responsible for their feelings. Let them deal with it!

Yes.. Depending on the level of Autism they cannot read body language or even facial expressions.. So you got to say exactly what you want them to know.. And they love it when you are clear and detailed in your speech because it removes the huge frustration they feel when they cannot decipher subtle social signals..

Agree. And don't use phrases like "see you later" because they'll wait around after school/work thinking you actually are going to see them later.
