Do you read all your PM's?
My OCD acts up and I can't deal with the orange notifications. So, I click on them to make them go away. But I don't necessarily read them.

If the message is just "Hi", from a guy who's older than me and I haven't really talked (or haven't talked at all) to them on the public forum then ala trashbin it goes.
