Why is tea in England always served with the handle on the right side of the cup ?

They are not called handles, they are called "ears". And one always points their ear to the left because the teabag goes on the right (I say, you must be a commoner). Oh, and don't forget, it's pinky up only when drinking tea with the Queen.)
