I believe a soulmate is simply someone who more compatible with you then anyone else. Any circumstances surrounding that are possible.

Some people can only have one at a time. Some people can have multiple. That depends on whatever works for you because a soulmate is again, all about compatibility.

If they die before you meets them, then you’ll simply have to find another one compatible enough.

Yes, even abusive people can have an ideal partner who’s compatible with their abuse.

If they’re a serial killer then you’re probably as sick as them in some way.

If they cheat on you, then I’d argue they’re not a soulmate because that’s not a very compatible thing to do, is it?

If you bond with someone enough, I’d hope you can overlook their socks and sandals, but if not. Don’t worry. Your soulmate wouldn’t be wearing those in that case.

If you don’t want a soulmate, then they’d respect that and you two would connect over a mutually respected distance.
