Are there any cons to never having kids?

SW-User
[c=004A59]I never had them, and the worst I can think of re. being childfree is the negativity you might get from family and others. It's a couple-centric family-oriented society. You can find yourself left out and left behind socially, if you don't do as everyone does.

At the same time, no one should have kids unless they love kids, enjoy being with them, and can devote their lives to raising them. The kids need/deserve that, and so does our society.[/c]
Everyone is different I guess. @SW-User

Yes, you miss so much. They add fun to life

@JimFarris16 [c=004A59]Fashion designers with kids stole my True Religions and replaced them with Levis. Seeing Levis are the gold standard, I can't complain. 🙃[/c]

@SW-User Lol, personally I'm fine with not leaving behind someone to carry on my legacy after I'm gone. I'm fine with it ending after me.

@JimFarris16 [c=004A59]It's one of those things I never think about. Plus, the way the world is going...my elderly parents often say they are glad they aren't young and having kids right now.[/c]

no heir to the throne
JimFarris16 · 18-21, M
@BlueVeins I'm fine with that.
JimFarris16 · 18-21, M
@BlueVeins It may sound weird, but I'm fine with not having a legacy after I'm gone or if I'm not remembered years later.

You miss out on knowing what it's like to love and care for someone more than yourself
SW-User
@SW-User [c=004A59]Not necessarily. You can love and care for elderly family members, pets and an SO -- all more than yourself.[/c]

If you and your significant other aren't 100% prepared for the additional responsibility of having kids, do not have kids.

My oldest was born prematurely, required 8 brain surgeries before he turned 3 years old and as a result developed cerebral palsy. He cannot get out of bed by himself, cannot dress himself, cannot go to the bathroom by himself. He needs almost constant supervision.

No one can ever be prepared for a scenario like this but you need to know that this can happen to you too.
ravenhill · 46-50, M
nope i cannut think of any.
justanothername · 51-55, M
Yours is a fairly understandable view for someone aged under 20. Go and live your life, have fun, travel, meet people and then when you are 30 and have met a cool woman ask each other what are the cons against having kids.
MaliaAgain · 36-40, F
If you make too much money you wont have anyone to inherit it when you die, so your whole life would be pointless at your deathbed
SW-User
@MaliaAgain [c=004A59]You could leave the money to other family members, friends, charities...the list goes on and on.[/c]
JimFarris16 · 18-21, M
@MaliaAgain Lol, okay!
melissa001 · 51-55, F
No one to take care of you when you get old.
And no grand kids.@melissa001 I used to think I was being smart by only having one but I now don't have a family. It's just us two.
melissa001 · 51-55, F
@Spoiledbrat I wouldn't care if I didn't have grand kids.
I'm missing out on the experience. @melissa001
i guess dying alone without having left anyone to continue your legacy
JimFarris16 · 18-21, M
@faithfulhusband I'm fine with that.
I think so. Sometimes I wish I would have had more than one.
FloorGenAdm · 51-55, M
No 4th stimulus money? 💰😕
WindTherapy · 56-60, M
Not everyone is destine to be a parent and that's ok. For me, they are one of the best things to happen to me, and have brought much joy to my life.
ImpeccablyImperfect · 51-55, F
Off the top of my head....if you don’t have kids, then you won’t have GRANDkids!
JimFarris16 · 18-21, M
@ImpeccablyImperfect Fine by me!

ImRileyTheDog · 22-25, F
Almost all the reason are cons
JimFarris16 · 18-21, M
@ImRileyTheDog what do you mean?
ImRileyTheDog · 22-25, F
@JimFarris16 Kids suck
JimFarris16 · 18-21, M
@ImRileyTheDog Lol I like kids, but not enough to raise them!
Justenjoyit · 56-60, M
What you put into life is what you get out👍
It's true @Justenjoyit
Truly being alone after the rest of your immediate family has passed on.
JimFarris16 · 18-21, M
@bijouxbroussard I think I'd rather be alone than have kids I have no business having.
@JimFarris16 Agreed. But in terms of possible cons, that’s the only one I can think of.

@CopperCicada [c=004A59]That's outright prejudice. As bad as calling a black person the N word.[/c]

@CopperCicada [c=004A59]How stupid of him. Does your boss not understand that some people can't have kids and not everyone who applies for adoption is accepted?[/c]
