Tbh not even worth it if you want to travel from point A to B. It's like getting a luxury uber ride from point A to B.

@Beatbox34 If the company is paying for it on an international flight then go for it. Otherwise save your money.
Beatbox34 · 31-35, M
@cherokeepatti Exactly. I'll do that on the company dime but not if I have to pay it.

I met a guy recently who takes a luxury uber to get from point A to B. My question is why? What's the point in it? I could save myself more cash in a regular uber. It's not like I own the car at the end of the day lol.

@Beatbox34 there are some You Tubers that make frequent first class or business flights on various international airlines and they video their experiences and critique each one. It would be fun to travel first-class at least once in my life on an international flight. Actually getting to recline while sleeping in a roomy seat and getting the best service, food, drinks, and other amenities would be wonderful. But I’m not rich so it’s unlikely to ever happen. I know someone who was traveling back to his home country on an international flight and before the plane took off he called his friends and family to update them. The lady who was sitting in the seat next to him called the flight attendant over and started complaining about him speaking a different language and said she didn’t want to sit next to him. The flight attendant told her wait a minute, she went up front maybe to talk to her supervisor. She came back and told the man to get his carryon bag and other things and come with her. He asked her what he did wrong (thinking he was in trouble and going to be booted off the flight). She took him to first class and told him there was an empty seat and said it was for him to use since the lady didn’t want to sit next to him. 😂 Backfired on the complainer lady. He got to sleep and got the best food and drinks and good service.

@cherokeepatti Years ago I was flying back from helping someone move to a different state. Anyways I was flying alone in normal people class (whatever it is called.)
Ayways they called my name and asked if I would be willing to take a different seat because there was a party that wanted to have seats close to each other. Heck I didn't care, I was alone and just wanted to get home.

So, they put me in seat 1A which was in first class.
It was pretty nice, didn't even feel like the plane was moving, unlike the connecting flight before where it was like driving a car on a rough country road.

I do not know what the flight costed because all moving expenses (and my trip home) were paid by the other party.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@CestManan usually if they ask you to move for some reason like that it wouldn’t cost extra unless they told you beforehand. I didn’t realize the flight was smoother in first class. I wonder what they have to do to make it feel that way?
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@CestManan How long was the flight?
CestManan · 46-50, F
@cherokeepatti The short one - less than even an hour and the longer one was like 1,000 miles so maybe three hours? Not real long. I think I sat around in the airports longer than I was actually on either plane.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@CestManan would really be nice on a 3 hour flight. How many times did they come around offering you something to drink?
CestManan · 46-50, F
@cherokeepatti First class, while it IS nicer and roomier than coach (is that what it is called?) but it isn't quite as fancy as what the movies show.

I do not remember if they came around asking if we wanted drinks. To be honest, I was more worried about having to go more than a couple hours without a cigarette.

Put it this way - even if you never fly first class, it is not like you are missing some experience of a life time.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@CestManan It would be good on an international flight, you could lay back and have a deep sleep for a few hours without getting your neck in a kink. Also better service and more food choices. I think you can order drinks any time you want too.
CestManan · 46-50, F
@cherokeepatti You have a point.

On a really long flight, yeah it would be more comfy in first class.
On a three'ish hour flight, it didn't matter as much.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@CestManan that’s about what I thought. They don’t even serve meals on most domestic flights any more unless you have a connecting international flight. And some airlines are charging for snacks other than a tiny bag of nuts or pretzels.
CestManan · 46-50, F
@cherokeepatti Airport food is stupid expensive.
Between 1993 and 1996, I was in the Army and did fly a few times to different parts of the USA, even then they didn't really serve meals on flights. I think they did on ONE and honestly, the food was not exactly Red Lobster.

And that bag of peanuts, forget trying to open it. One time on some late night talk show, they had one of the (then) strongest men in the world, Shane Hamman, try to open one and even he struggled.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@CestManan I took a few flights before 1993, everything has changed since then. I remember when you went up to the front counters and checked your bags and took your carry on bags, purse, lunch & drinks from home if you wanted to, and walked right in to go to your departure lounge. Nobody checked what we carried in there until right before the flight took off, you went through a metal detector before you boarded the plane.
Beatbox34 · 31-35, M
@cherokeepatti I mean it's worth doing once if one has the money and desperately needs it. I used to want all that when I was younger and the older I got, I realised that it made no sense.

I used to travel a lot in 2017-2018. I spent about half of my salary in air-travel and I did only one thing when I boarded the plane i.e: fall asleep. I never woke up and I would sleep like a baby till I reached my destination. I kinda hate flying now lol unless required.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Beatbox34 My last flight was on the 4th of July in 2018 returning home from a California vacation. It was night when we got back home and we got to see fireworks in various places as we flew over Texas and Oklahoma. No clouds that night so they were visible.
Beatbox34 · 31-35, M
@cherokeepatti Interesting. It was that polluted huh.

I don't think I've ever travelled at a time like that when it was polluted. However, the only time I remember it getting polluted was when people used a lot of fireworks. So much that there was a ban to it at one point. The schools had shut down and an immediate warning was put up to stay at home due to the pollution outside.

I remember visiting a client's house to decide a venue for his sister's marriage and I could see a thick layer of smog that night.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Beatbox34 It wasn’t polluted over Texas and Oklahoma. You could see some yellow smog and also smoke from wildfires in various places that had settled around Los Angeles though.
