A woman stopped us to ask if she could buy the dog. Appropriate?

I think it's an [i]odd[/i] thing to ask someone just out walking with their dog buddy, for sure. Even though animals are still considered primarily just "property" under the law, I would hope most consider their companion animals more like family members.

I think it was very weird. Didn't know anything about the animal, how bonded they are, if it is a show dog... animals are not up for grabs. Seems covetous and bizarre. She was not answering an ad, they were not at a pet store, she interfered with daily life of a stranger, she lacked understanding of puppy love. Assumed the owner needed money, was financially bereft, just off kilter in all ways. @Mrsbetweenfatandfit .
