What's one item you didn't realize was expensive until you became an adult?

@SW-User yea, my parents wouldn't tell me how much those things were. I think it's good for a child to know how much a house costs, how much bills are, especially if they are interested. That way they aren't surprised when they get into their first place.

@iamnikki Exactly. My generation was not prepared for anything regarding work, relationships, housing etc. I can't imagine raising kids the way I was raised. It just seems irresponsible to not warn them what they are in for.
