There are a lot of people that derive happiness from other people's pain...

Why are people so unhappy?
How can we resolve this?

It wasn't always a "thing" in some places in the past and even now too. This empathy stuff I mean.

Whats to resolve? Each has to live the best they can and if you feel empathy make the most of it... many will probably love you for it.

@Elevatorpitches so it's normal to be cold?
@Mellowgirl you would be shocked to read how people felt about that stuff in Voltaire's enlightened Europe.

And they burned witches with a relish in the fifteenth century while the most heavenly music played out of the church windows when the smoke didn't choke them out...

Animals know empathy. A downed cow was on the roadside and five of its mates gathered around it. But when I drove back to get a better look, they had all moved away. I guess one of them was only resting, but the others were making sure.

Like Emerson, we should all envy the crtitters, they could teach us a lot.

Western society leads the way regarding breaking the connection between us all, and the connection between body and soul.. or the "thinking" part of us and the rest.

Descartes did surgical anatomical research on animals with no anaesthesia. We get our own way therefore we "are". Really?

In prisons and in prison-mentality some worse things happen.

Its about the CONNECTIONS. Starts with seeing ourselves as more the same than different.

The workplace in most places might be more humane too.

@Elevatorpitches the workplace how and why?
@Mellowgirl well I thought u would get that too. Is is so normal to be stuck on a routine detail for hours at a time? and without wanting and needing to do something else?

Is this the best way to employ peoples abilities?

or is it about something else, like someone else with way more money than you (how did they get THAT?) dictating how the rest of the world should behave to keep the money where it supposedly belongs?

@Elevatorpitches I'm enjoying listening to what you have to say. I actually find your mind fascinating. Hence the questions.
@MellowgirlThank you. I work hard to explain myself and most times the snarkers just rush in to ruin it.🧐
