If things like taking away favoured toys or pastimes doesn't work ....sometimes the only thing you can do is teach by example.
But I'd make it a good one .
Don't do lots of petty lies , do one really good one that's going really dissapoint them.
Nothing that will hurt them , or damage their ego .
I dunno...start talking about a new gaming system , or a holiday ....get them all excited...maybe even let it go on for a few weeks.
Then ....wham.
Everyone learns differently.
Some kids just need to be told its wrong, some need an explanation, some need a form of loss to relate their is punishment for doing this.
And some need a Taste of reality for it to hit home.
You start gently ...and keep working to the harder things till it works.
