They're a party split down the middle atm. The Tea Party couldn't get a foothold as an independent party so they infiltrated the Republican party. The situation has created quite a problem for them. They lost moderates and centrists like me. If they don't pull together, they'll find themselves losing the next Presidential election. Again.
