There are some similarities. Both are massive cities. They are both very busy and very expensive to live in. London has more history for obvious reasons.

Another key difference is that London is more dominant than the UK that New York is over America. Both cities are the cultural and financial centres of their respective countries. London also has our government and almost our entire national media. The next biggest metropolitan areas in the UK are less than a third the size of London.

In America; cultural, political and media power are more spread out and there are more cities that compete with the Big Apple.
