I went to a house of a guy I used to work with, and it's me, him and his small dog in the room. He's petting the dog, I go to pet the dog the same exact way and it starts biting me. He didn't see it happen, I didn't say anything, but that was the last time I went near the dog.
It didn't hurt and didn't leave any marks, it wasn't a hard bite, but all I saw was hand engulfed by teeth and pulled my hand back.

When I moved in here, we were not permitted pets. Just over a year later, and we have four dogs in our unit. One of them is snarly and snappy to everyone but the owner, especially if you are wearing a mask like management requires us to, and all I was doing was getting my newspaper!
I wish they would get rid of the animal.

Yes give the dog time to get used to you .
But if he senses fear or if you make any sudden moves it may be a problem.
