Why are kids smoking at an earlier age these days?

They supposedly know more than I did when I was their age, but I wasn't stupid smoking.

My grandma started smoking when she was 12. Her older sister (teen in the 50’s) told me if you didn’t smoke, you weren’t cool back in the day. I don’t think it’s a new thing tbh it seems rather old.
