Sure, I love wholesome questions!

@FaeLuna What's your all-time favorite RPG character? (LARP, D&D, any other of a million systems)
FaeLuna · 31-35, F
@CountScrofula Oh no, you're asking me to choose a favorite of all my RPG children? Hmm...

I'm going to have go with Lady Isabella, a high-level bard in D&D 5e that I played. She played fiddle with the Demon Prince of Deception, broke into the office of the archmage of the drow capitol to steal his diary, rallied an army to fight the demon lords, and was just generally a very fun, goofy character to play. She started out as a support character to fill in holes in the party, and somehow became the "main character" in that story. Definitely a favorite of my characters.

@FaeLuna Awww amazing. I find that it can be very hard to get a charismatic manipulator type to really land in a game but when you find that vibe it's easily one of the most fun character types to play.

@CountScrofula Definitely. It's really the hardest kind of character I've ever played, and it was rough at the start of that campaign. I actually thought about switching out to a different character at a few points early on, just because she wasn't really filling the role I needed her to, and she wasn't really being useful. But then I did that fiddle contest against my better judgement (because why would I want to challenge a DEMON PRINCE in any kind of contest), and that kinda cemented that character's place in infamy within my group.

@FaeLuna The bard in the PF2 game I'm running had similar difficulties finding her stride until she bluffed her way into a high security area by stacking up with another halfling and wearing a mask to pass herself off as a plague doctor. That completely opened up her ability to just ludicrously bullshit her way through situations.

@CountScrofula Is that just a bard thing? Like, they're really unsure of themselves until they succeed in doing something so utterly ridiculous that they unlock all their potential?
