Comment and I'll ask you an invasive personal question

I may be drunk enough to actually be invasive this time.

How invasive can a question be if I don't have to give an answer?

@ninalanyon Look look we don't need pedantry. Do you consider yourself a crossdresser or transgender since I see the 'T' by your name?
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@CountScrofula You're not trying that's not even a tiny bit invasive!
:-)
And the answer is that SW provides a paltry number of codes for gender or sexual inclination, none of which fit properly but T is the one that is nearest; I and some others here on SW choose to interpret T as including transvestite. So I am a cross-dresser, not transgender.

@ninalanyon I know it's not that invasive but hey I may as well ask. And fair enough! That makes sense. SW needs way more codes.

No it doesn't. It should just provide a string field that people can fill in as they choose. It should also show the list of existing values and provide a means for people to suggest that values be replaced with other values or declared to be equivalent. The suggestions should then be passed on to those who use that value so that can make the change if they agree. Of course it would require a little moderation and perhaps a short list of forbidden words.

The point is that whatever fixed list you choose it will eventually and inevitably be inadequate.
