What purpose does it serve nowadays to solicit photographs?

Wouldn't it be better to video call people to prevent receiving filtered and Photoshopped images? However, we have become so guarded that sharing factual information about ourselves has become taboo. We behave so differently on social media that it boosts the confidence that we lack in real life. Is the internet and social media instilling a fear of authenticity?

Well said , and I concur. I've a girlfriend whom has written a doctorial thesis entitled The Catfish Principal. How social media has altered our general sence of trust in what we see. Personally, and in open vulnerability; as a user of popular dating sites... I find it ironic that some participants seek access to a separate App full of pictures...in order to somehow " verify" the current App full of pictures.

I simply suggest, as you've said... A site that provides live video connection. Again, ironic how a good percentage of those receiving that offer simply vanish. 🤔

@Trippy It would be fascinating to read the findings of her research. However, a location equipped with video conferencing would be unsuitable for some individuals due to their need for anonymity to live in a fantasy.
People prefer anonymity for a variety of reasons in a place like SW.
