I agree with you 100%! The stories they have from a time long, long ago. I would love to volunteer at a facility; sadly, due to an illness I have (no cure) I cannot. The beautiful thing is these lovely people are lonely and love to share their stories. Good for you for visiting! That speaks volumes as to the type of person you are. :)

Some of the wisest, nicest, most lovable people I have ever had the privilege to meet have been residents of those facilities..always a pleasure...always a learning experience of some kind regardless of how small.

I haven't in quite awhile. I got attached to many, even found a "grandma", and took her places. She had dementia but remembered every detail of her youth....
and me. The deaths dimmed my light no matter how selfish that sounds.
I worked with veterans for a while and even now, love to stop them to hear military and war stories. It's refreshing and fulfilling indeed.
