Am I starting to heal?

.
I had just gone a whole 30 minutes without a thought of Trumo.

Seriously though, even if we don't like that he won, he really deserves his chance. So many others have screwed it up. Why shouldn't he get a chance too?

:)

Back to healing.........

A chance to:
strip people of their healthcare benefits with no stated alternative
repeal Roe v Wade so that women and girls go back to dying from illegal, unsafe abortions
repeal Obergefell v Hodges so millions of legal marriages are made invalid
implement more "freedom of religion" laws so people can discriminate based upon their religious beliefs
deport people who were born in this country based upon their religion or the nationality of their parents
stack the Supreme Court with hardline conservatives

And these are just the things he has said he plans to do. I get that we have no choice now, but I'm not going feel magnanimous and gung-ho about it. 馃槖

The potential for disaster is really quite high... :(

Yes, there is much to feel so badly about. But what is done in law can be and often is undone years later. This isn't the end of the world. It's a bump in the road. A huge bump. Everything you have said is true.

But what are you going to do about it? I mean you, personally. Unless the Dem party reaches out with an agenda that appeals to many Trump supporters an particularly to rural America, it will continue to lose them.

Also, when Obama ran, he had a message people could embrace. He didn't run strictly on not being George W. Hillary did not have the same kind of loud, clear, passionate message. Obama had Hope and Change. Unfortunately, Hillary was basically 'not Trump'. Well turns out that was 'Not Enough'. So maybe Dem supporters have to be honest and see how to improve and how to win more seats in 2018.

And the view that Trump supporters are a bunch of dummies is dead wrong and dead stupid. If that becomes the prevailing message, the loss is justified, and will continue

Trump didn't win as much as the other side lost because people are sick of "same old". Unfortunately, tearing down the old doesn't necessarily mean that something better will be erected in its place...

@walabby: so true. But the system is the system.

What is incredibly ironic is that though the people voted apparently agains t the elite...... They now have a congress, House and Senate which is hugely beholden to special interests. So they get a billionaire president who is a populist and presents as unelite, yet have a congress stacked with elites. And those who owe their very presence there to the elite.

Today it is rumoured Jamie Dimon might head Treasury. What a farce! It doesn't get much more elite than him. And Trump has only had 2 days as President Elect.

Be afraid? Sure. But do something about it. Move to Iowa and vote Dem. Lol

Migrate? It's not that bad.. yet.. :/
CassandraFemale1726-30, F
@walabby: the Midwest needs more Dems!!!!!!!!

Lol
CassandraFemale1726-30, F
@walabby: and hOuse prices there are far lower!!!!!!

It's a much better idea to migrate internally... :)

@CassandraFemale17: .... but you are Canadian, aren't you? It's on your profile..
@CassandraFemale17: We also need an electable candidate, and Dems who will vote. 49% percent of eligible voters didn't, and the conventional wisdom is that the larger demographic is always Democrat. So the majority of those lost votes would've been Hillary's. How would it have been if Bernie had been the candidate ? We'll never know.

@walabby: I am a Canadian citizen, but I'm back and forth between Canada and NYC. In January I'll be studying full time in the USA, and I was active in this past election.
