A welcomed sound

The sound of my furnace kicking on. Power back on after more than two hour power shutdown. Power shut off this morning when it was -17 F. I’m no wimp after living in tents and cabins in Wyoming wilderness as a biologist. It sure made me appreciate heat!

seems like my furnace was running almost non-stop last night, it got down to -13 F here last night. It has warmed up to 5 F. Degrees now.

@cherokeepatti hopefully 🤞you’ll miss the outages!

@CantExplain Nope they said a short while ago now they’ll be doing two a day in each area. I am not taking a shower for fear I’ll get chilled before I get my hair dry.

@cherokeepatti ouch, so sorry. Keep in touch and let us know you’re doing OK

@CantExplain I will be here on and off I guess. Bought batteries for my CD-player/radio so I can listen to something at least. Makes my birds happy.

@cherokeepatti I am in the mountains of PA, it is a fairly warm 40 degrees here. Usually I am the one complaining about cold weather and power outages. Sorry you are having problems but it is nice to be the guy with a working heater for a change.

@Roadsterrider If I had my way I’d have a wood-burning stove and a rocket stove system for radiant heat.Rocket stoves burn less than half the fuel of a regular wood stove and burn most of the pollutants in the smoke too.

@cherokeepatti I have a pellet stove in the house and a wood stove in my workshop. The pellet stove is great, little ash, lots of heat. It is hard to beat a good woodstove, sometimes I go to the shop just to start a fire and read.

@Roadsterrider it’s a comforting type of heat during the coldest time of year. A wood stove with a glass door to watch the fire burn is a big bonus.

@cherokeepatti Both have glass in the door. I love to watch the fire.
